Rolling Blackouts by Sarah Glidden

Rolling Blackouts by Sarah Glidden

There are a number of graphic novels about the middle east, from Joe Sacco to Marjane Satrapi to Guy Delisle. Rolling Blackouts, while it shares many of the surroundings and cultural aspects of these is not about the middle east, it's about journalism. It's about how journalists cover the stories of people living in the aftermath of war, how they try to make a compelling story out of the multiple threads of interviews, news, facts, etc. on the ground hopefully without betraying the intent of any of the sources. It's not an easy read, but it's a compelling one. A very balanced view (I think) of what journalism should be and (maybe) often strives to be.
