Selmer #607
This album was released a few years back, presented as a reunion of the hottest young Gipsy Jazz guitarists (all playing Selmer guitars, of course). I had missed it at the time, but caught up with the pre-financing of their latest release. I'm still waiting for that one to reach me, but in the meantime I got legal downloads of the previous albums. This first opus is really good and shows the quality of a group approach such as this one: while manouche can get repetitive quickly, the fact that the leader changes virtually every tune keeps Selmer #607 fresh. I think my favourite tracks are those where Richard Manetti takes the lead, but really it's good stuff throughout.
