The Cider House Rules

The Cider House Rules

We greeted the new year watching the Cider House Rules, a film I dearly love but hadn't seen in at least a decade. Humanistic, moving, funny, dramatic, this is one of the best movies in all these categories. Also one of the best novel adaptations: it's very different from Irving's book but doesn't sell it short. Last but not least, the boys enjoyed it, which was not a given considering the subject matter. An all round win for my last item of Cultural Consumption of 2016.
