Tonoharu vol. 1-3 by Lars Martinson
This graphic novel is atypical in many ways. Its subject, to begin with: the story of a young American who goes to a remote Japanese town as an English assistant teacher. The design, with fixed panels and a blue tinted black and white. The mood, slow and tangential. I suppose this could to some extent be described as Lost in Translation in comic book format, but there's more to it than just dissociation. At times it reminded me of Seth's It's A Good Life despite wildly different subject matters. Very good overall, I loved it.
