Adrian Belew Power Trio Live at the Chapel (San Francisco)

Adrian Belew Power Trio Live at the Chapel (San Francisco)

I was so jetlagged for this that I didn't stay for the second set. Sadly, because it was awesome but I literally couldn't stand up anymore. I knew that there was a fire and ice thing going on in the 80s King Crimson. Fripp was the ice and Belew the fire. But seeing the fire fronting his own live band it's absolutely evident, even when he covers King Crimson. Belew is a stunning guitarist and wonderful singer. His power trio is power alright with the astounding Julia Slick on bass and the no less stunning Tobias Ralph on drums. This is dense music with an in your face sound, but it seems effortless on stage and Belew is a clown if ever there was one. They manage to convey a punk vibe to elaborate prog songs. Really wish I could have seen the second set. I will certainly go see them again without hesitation.
