The Daily Dredds vol 1 by Grant, Burton, Smith, etc.

For almost three decades I've owned a volume of the Judge Dredd Maga Collection, a book of strips from the Daily Star. This was my first exposure to the world of Judge Dredd as most of the artwork in the original 1985 Games Workshop game came from these strips. They'd been out of print for ages, but I discovered recently that this new project of Daily Dredds aimed to republish them. This first volume made me rediscover what I loved about these original strips: they're (nearly) all one pagers and manage to pack in a very short amount of story the essence of the world of Judge Dredd. It's funny, deeply cynical and action packed. In other words, it's gold. These collections aim for exhaustivity and as a consequence there are a few lower quality scans here and there, but mostly Ron Smith's art shines in all its precise line glory. The best introduction to the world of Judge Dredd (in my opinion). Vol 2 is out and vol 3 is on the way.
