Aya de Yopougon

Aya de Yopougon

I was a fan of the graphic novels this movie is adapted from, but had never seen the movie. It's a very good rendition, faithful to the original not only graphically but in spirit as well. These slices of life of an Abidjan neighborhood are delightful, funny, moving and a true window into Ivorian culture and way of life. The movie lacks some structure, probably, but it wasn't a problem to me (the kids were surprised when it ended though). Excellent viewing, although I guess you have to see it in French to get the taste of the language.
