Bokanté, live at Django Reinhardt Festival 2017
Bokanté is the latest project of Snarky Puppy's Michael League with singer Malika Tirolien. The line-up for this project is three percussionists and four guitarists (including one bassist, not League). The writing is tight, with complex polyrythms driving a pulsating music. Tirolien's voice is superb, and it really shines when she sings in Creole (also, the few songs in French highlighted a writing that isn't very interesting or inventive, so yay for Creole). Despite the very written nature of the music, a lot of soul comes accross and everyone is clearly having fun. I bought the record, which should tell you that I liked it a lot.
