Django

Django

This is the recent French release about Django Reinhardt, not the Tarantino action movie. As a huge fan of Django's music (and gypsy jazz in general), I was both excited and apprehensive about this movie. The result is decent though, with great acting and a compelling story (focused on Django's excape from occupied France in 1943) but a pacing issue. The movie lacks rhythm, which is ironic considering the musical genre it's about. The ending is superb though. Not a masterpiece, but a decent movie about a fascinating character.
