The Terranauts by TC Boyle
Bought this on a whim, had never heard of the author. It's the (fictional) story of two years in an experimental biodome in the 90s as told by three of the people involved (two inside, one outside). The pitch (and the overall story) are good, but execution is lacking in my opinion. First, the noval is told in three voices that sound identical. No stylistic approach to making them distinct. Second, the book is way too long and lacks punch. That might be deliberate to give you a sense of how interminable two years are to those stuck in the biodome, but it didn't really work for me. All in all, not a bad read, but not one I'd particularly recommend either.
