The Lord of the Rings
I hadn't seen the 1978 Bakshi movie in over three decades, but decided to get it to show my 6 year old daughter who is clearly too young for the Jackson trilogy. I quite enjoyed it. I think the choices of cuts made by Bakshi in order to film a more efficient story are quite effective, more so than Jackson's in many instances. I love the fact that except the elves no one is really good looking here. In fact it makes the elves so much more... Of course, there are shortcomings, especially in the visual department although his half-filmed battle scenes I found strangely compelling. Anyway, it's a real shame the second half was never made...
