Elfquest Book One: Fire and Flight by Wendy & Richard Pini
It's probably the third time I'm reading Elfquest, and I was struck at the subtle and effective construction of the series starting with this first volume. The initial story arc give a tiny bit of exposition before upending the heroes. Then follows some really interesting exposition "as you go along" with the trolls (who will be crucial later on), recognition and of course Rayek. It manages to be thrilling and at the same time really deep. As good as I remembered if not better.
