Nola French Connection Brass Band
I'd never heard of this French brass band before, so when I saw the record in a random FNAC I decided to give it a shot. These guys are good, and they have clearly digested their New Orleans brass bands. It sounds for real, funky, exciting. The only downside is that it's very derivative. I'll be on the lookout for the next one though: if they get to writing their own stuff, this could be interesting. Would definitely go see them live.
