GLOW (for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) came with such high praise that I was worried it wouldn't live up to its reputation. In a way I was right, it's not the series of the century that I was led to believe it was, but it's very funny, human and original, which is more than can be said for 90% of TV series. The series starts with Ruth struggling to find a decent acting job and at the utter end of her financial and psychological resources when she gets recruited for an upcoming female wrestling show. More than a job, she joins a crew (of amateurs, mostly) and scraping by, they actually start building a show that stands on its own. Alisson Brie is peppy and endearing as Ruth, but the rest of the cast is really good too. Worth a watch if you're looking for something different.
