Live is Love by Thomas Dutronc
Few people know that before being the pop star that he currently is, Thomas Dutronc paid his dues playing rhythm guitar with the best manouche players out there (Bireli amongst others). This live record is kind of a return to that, although it features Dutronc singing on most tracks. And therein (for me) lies the rub: I get really irritated by his laid back vocals. It's not that he sings off or anything like that, it's just viscerally not for me. The instrumentals are great, the musicianship on the whole thing is great, but I just can't enjoy it.
