The Girl from the Other Side (vol 1) by Nagabe
(I read this in French, it's called L'Enfant et le Maudit.)
A truly gripping and moving tale (though this is just the beginning). A little girl lives about a farm with a strange dark being. He's an Outsider, she's an Insider. We don't know much more than that except that Outsiders are curse and in turn curse all those they touch. So the Professor (as the dark character is known) constantly reminds Sheeva (the little girl) not to touch him. I don't know yet how allegorical this dark fairy tale is, but the atmosphere is compelling and this initial volume makes me want to delve in deeper. A keeper, for sure.
