After Life Season 1
I do like Ricky Gervais' brand of humour... to some extent. I could never watch the whole of The Office because it made me uncomfortable (too close to the office life I experienced daily). After Life is, in many ways, a more mature series. There is definitely shock value in there, but there's humanity as well, and (sorry to spoil this for you guys), a happy ending. I thought until the last second that Gervais would slap the viewer in the face with a surprise shock ending, but no. Probably for the best although part of me is a little frustrated too! So anyway, the pitch in a nutshell : Tony's wife, the love of his life, is dead and he hovers between sociopathy and suicide. As the series starts, he's a 100% "I don't give a shit" character who's just not quite brave enough to top himself. The subject matter is depressing, but it's treated with both humour and gravitas at different times. Strongly recommended even if you think Gervais is often too much.
