Matzah to Menorah by Alberto Mizrahi and Trio Globo
I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this record of Jewish religious music. I suppose since my only contact with Jewish music is Klezmer I was expecting something that sounded like Trio Globo doing Klezmer. It's not (by a long shot). It feels to these unreligious ears like operatic singing with a latin American flavour, at times veering a little bit into the jazzy territory that Trio Globo is best known for. It's a pleasant listen although my general distaste for operatic singing is a challenge, but not a dig on the music, just an incompatibility with my own tastes.
