Venom & Faith by Larkin Poe
I had been disappointed by Larkin Poe's Peach. With the exception of a few pared down tracks with just the two sisters and their guitars, the rest was marred with beatbox drums and artificial sounding backing. I didn't expect much more of Venom & Faith, but after watching the girls and their band live, I wanted to support them even at the cost of buying an album I wouldn't enjoy. And it turned out the way I expected. Instead of the (good) rhythm section Larkin Poe has on stage, the album is again electronic drums and subdued. I fail to understand the reasoning, and cannot in conscience recommend it, but if you get a chance to see them live, don't miss out.
