Leeway by Lee Morgan
You'd be forgiven for wondering for a minute if this isn't a jazz messengers record. With Morgan as well as Timmons on piano and Blakey on drums, you have 3/5ths of the Moanin' line-up and the proximity is obvious. That said, unsurprisingly, Morgan is the star here, and boy does he shine. The music is propulsive, his solos fiery and inventive. First rate blue note era album, highly recommended.
