Why you like this photo by Brian Dilg
Subtitled the Science of Perception, this short book is both a book on photography and a book on perception. The subtext (never really explicit) is that by better understanding what makes people tick when they see photos, you will be able to make better photos. It's an easy read, and full of good and interesting tidbits. If I hadn't read Michael Freeman's The Photographer's Eye, I would have found a lot of what's in there more fascinating, but since I've read the latter book a few times and it goes a lot more in-depth I ended up not being blown away by Why You Like This Photo. Still, if you're after a short, snappy read about photography and the science of perception, this is not a bad pick.
