Isle of Dogs
I had not seen this Wes Anderson upon its release, so that was corrected last week-end. Isle of Dogs is a gem of formal aesthetics, every shot more superb than the previous one. It's a quintessentially Anderson story, full of symbolism, visual cues and slightly absurd humour. It's the story of a politician who bans dogs on a garbage island as part of a long term plan to eradicate dogs as a species, and a little boy who wants his dog back and goes to extremes to do so. It's a visual masterpiece and a wonderful piece of poetry and entertainment. Superb, don't miss it.
