Le Bureau des Affaires Occultes by Éric Fouassier
A thriller set in 1830 Paris and dealing with occult had every reason to be a good pick for me, but this novel is rife with cliches and inconsistencies. It's also not very well written, the author aiming for a language register that he's clearly not comfortable with. Could be of interest for the depiction of 1830s Paris, but that's just about it.
