The Grand Budapest Hotel
We showed this to Madeleine last weekend. I never saw it at the movies and I really wish I had. It's just magnificent on so many levels. Unlike more recent Anderson movies, it tells a story (a simple one to be sure, but an engrossing one nonetheless) and the formal choices (to distinguish between the different levels of story through the frame format of the movie for example) is clever and effective. Anyway, if you haven't seen it, see it. It could be that the idea of a secret society of hotel concierge's will seep into Les Mystères de Paris...
