Le Fils de Pan by Fabrizio Dori
I had purchased Dori's previous bande dessinée Le Dieu Vagabond mostly on the basis of its art and its theme, and I had loved it. Le Fils de Pan is the continuation of the story of Eustis, the satyr that was stuck outside of Pan's dream and has been wandering the earth since the ancient greek times. Like its predecessor, Le Fils de Pan is on the wacky side of magical realism, and shares a lot of themes with Alec Campbell's Bacchus (though it's nowhere near as wacky) but I felt the storyline a bit conceited, as if Dori had struggled a bit to find a reason to keep the story going. I enjoyed it, but it's not on the same level as the original book.
