Discipline was the first King Crimson album I listened to, followed by The Power to Believe. Only later did I delve into In the Court of the Crimson King. I used to find The Power to Believe both fascinating and hard to listen to. Listening to it again after a long hiatus, I now find it strikes a near perfect balance of ambitious and listenable, something KC has not always managed, in my opinion. There are three very strong moments in the album. Level Five is a powerful instrumental that ranks (in my opinion) with the very best prog metal instrumentals out there. Facts of Life is a heavy song with a lot of rythmic breaks and ominous lyrics. Happy with what you have to be happy with is very meta, a song about writing songs, very funny and driving as well. But really, it's all good from start to finish. This is the last KC studio album, and what a great farewell to the band in the studio !
