Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles by Sébastien Japrisot

Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles by Sébastien Japrisot

Ever since watching the movie adaptation again last summer, I've been meaning to read Japrisot's novel again. I loved it the first time around, a few months after the movie's release, and the magic worked again the second time. Japrisot's story of love and death during and after the first world war is superbly written and just grips you from the first line all the way to the end. I tore through the book and read it in three evening sessions, feeling the usual frustration of excellent novels as I put it down to struggle to find sleep. Truly magical, I now need to hunt down other Japrisot novels.
