Sandman S2.1

 Sandman S2.1

Gaiman's reputation has taken a severe hit amidst allegations of his sexual misconducts (I realise that's likely too tame a word, but I don't know exactly how to describe what I'm not sure I know well enough), and I guess it's impossible not to let that taint the viewing of this second (and last, as a consequence) season of Sandman. I had found the first season pleasant and serviceable but lacking in depth compared to the original graphic novels, and putting aside the Gaiman issues, I think this is felt even more here. We are getting at the heart of the story arc, with key scenes that pack a mean punch in the comics, and while it's all in there, it feels distant. The emotional depth is lacking. I have no idea if and how they even intend to close the whole thing, but I will end this review with the same recommendation I made after Season 1, only more so: if you haven't read the original, go and read it.
