Nero
These days it takes a lot for me to really dig into a TV series. Not really sure why, but while I was willing to give Nero a try, my expectations were very low. Turns out it's significantly better than I thought it would be. Not perfect by any means, but entertaining, original and it doesn't fall flat on its face at the end. Nero is set in a (very) fictional Southern France during the middle ages, and centers on the character of Nero, an assassin in the service of the Vice-Consul of Lamartine. Nero's boss desperately wants to get rid of his own boss (the Consul) but none of his assassins are good enough, he's too well protected. That's until a mysterious one eyed woman comes into town... Action, scheming, treachery, sorcery and even a light bit of romance spice up the mix. Not the series of the decade, but a good entertainment for nerds, with light undertones of Ladyhawke and Gagner la Guerre.
