Wild and Peaceful by Kool & the Gang
In my mind, Kool & the Gang was a disco outfit from the late 70s, not my cup of tea. I didn't realise that while that's kind of where they ended, they started as a funk bank in the early 70s. I heard Jungle Boogie somewhere and I had to check out the album it was on. And good thing I did too. Kool & the Gang's sound is lush, brassy, ballsy and funky as hell. Jungle Boogie is the outstanding tune there, and no wonder it became a hit, but the rest is top notch funk, and as the first track preaches, "I can't get enough of that funky stuff..."
