Youngblood Brass Band concert in Rezé
I would never have dreamed that the Youngblood, who I've been listening to for a decade and a half would play 5 minutes drive from where I live. My expectations were high, and I was a little concerned I'd be disappointed, like when I saw Kokoroko last year. I should not have been. The Youngblood Brass Band packs a mean punch, and I was very thankful for the man standing next to me who lent me a kleenex which I turned into earbuds to protect my eardrums from the barrage of brass. While the band is mostly instrumental, one of the drummers raps as well and graced us with a couple of numbers with that mean hip hop sound. They played mostly classics from albums that are 20 years old or more, but there were a couple of new originals, and I cannot wait for the EP or album to come out because they were really cool and interesting. Stellar.
