Les Catacombes - Histoire du Paris souterrain by Gilles Thomas
I have read many a book about Paris working on my next role-playing game "Les Mystères de Paris" but one thing I struggled to get a grasp on was the so-called catacombs. Having read Gilles Thomas' book, I now have a much clearer idea of what they are, how they came to be, who roams there and how they influenced movies and literature. It's an easy enough to read book, well written and superbly documented. All it lacks is visuals, but I'll find those in other books no doubt. Strongly recommended if the subject matter is of interest.
