Pluribus

Pluribus

Pluribus was described (succinctly) to me as a UFO of a series (no pun intended) and indeed it goes out of the ordinary in many ways, both on substance and form. I'll try not to spoil, especially since the first episode is very harrowing unless you've been told already (which I had) but basically the series centers on a female protagonist who sees the world change around her in a single night and realises that nothing, or very nearly nothing, of what made life before has remained. This is made all the more interesting and poignant in that our lead character, Carol, is far from a heroic figure, she's bitter, sarcastic and insecure. In other words, she's much more like any one of us than traditional characters. Pluribus is engaging but slow paced, and the last episode of this first series is a little bit of a weird place to end, but me and the wife sure will be waiting eagerly for S2.
