Guilty by Definition by Susie Dent
I really like Susie Dent as a UK TV personality associated with the quirkiness of the English language, but it's easy to forget her day job has long been as a lexicographer at the Oxford English Dictionary. I thought her idea of a crime novel focused on a thinly veiled simile of the OED was interesting and different, but I didn't expect much of the plot. I was wrong. Guilty by Definition is one of the best whodunits I've read lately, and kept me not only engrossed but expectant all the way until the end. Highly recommended.
