Prodigy by Mark Millar
I stumbled upon this and read it with zero expectations, and it turned out to be pleasantly entertaining and fun, and also a lot less over the top than Millar's other stuff I have read. Basically Prodigy is Millar's take on a pulp version of Batman, someone who is super intelligent and rich, but doesn't have inherent superpowers. Expect lots of super-science, ancient civilizations and even some parallel universe stuff. As I said, fun and entertaining.
