Thirteen by Soft Machine
Thirteen is the third album by Soft Machine that I listen to, and all three could not be more different although for a band that has lived (in one shape or another) for 50+ years, that's possibly not surprising. Thirteen sounds super modern and walks that fine line between prog and jazz just like Bundles had, but where Bundles sound has (in my opinion) not always aged well, Thirteen feels more future proof. The album is mostly instrumentals, with some really out there stuff, and more easy to listen to tracks, but all in all it's really good and has been on repeated rotation since I got it. Good stuff.
