Un Ours dans le Jura

Un Ours dans le Jura

We didn't know much about this movie going into it, except that it featured a Frank Dubosc "not in his usual lowbrow comedy repertoire". I expected a thriller, but that illusion was shattered about 5 minutes into the movie. The best analogy I can find, in the end, is a French Fargo. It's wacky and dark at the same time. It probably qualifies as a comedy of sorts, but it doesn't really feel like one. It's definitely a fun movie to watch once you grasp what it is you're watching, and the cast is stellar, not only Dubosc, but Laure Calamy and Benoit Poelvoorde as well as the excellent Josephine de Meaux who I'd only seen in small parts in the past. In the end, a very pleasant movie, and bit of a surprise for French cinema.
