A Wizard of Earthsea by Fred Fordham

A Wizard of Earthsea by Fred Fordham

I was kind of skeptical at the idea of a graphic novel adaptation of A Wizard of Earthsea, but the blurb and foreword by Ursula Le Guin's son kind of convinced me. It shouldn't have. While most of the dialog used is straight from the text, the contemplative nature of Le Guin's masterpiece was, I guess, supposed to be taken over by the images, but it just doesn't work. It struck me how bland and unexciting the graphic novel feels. In the end, the only positive thing to say about it is that it made me want to read Earthsea again.
