WALL-E

WALL-E

I hadn't seen WALL-E in ages, and I was blown away (again) at how good it is, not only in terms of visual storytelling, but even in the substance of the story itself. It's striking to see how ahead of its time it was with its core theme of environmental catastrophy, and its anticipation of rogue artificial intelligence. Both of these themes are science-fiction classics, but to have them in a children's animation movie, and used so deftly, is quite a feat. Despite its rather heavy themes, the movie manages to be tender and delicate at times. A masterpiece, through and through.
