Paddleton
Seems like recently me and the wife ended up watching the weirdest bunch of movies on Netflix. I was attracted to Paddleton because Ray Romano proved (to me) in The Big Sick that he could definitely go beyond his sitcom comfort zone, and in Paddleton he shows that yet again. The movie starts with Michael learning that he has a terminal cancer. He is offered a way out before the pain becomes unbearable and asks his longtime friend and neighbour Andy to assist him when the time comes for him to make his exit. The movie essentially revolves around this weird dynamic: Michael and Andy are friends, not lovers, but they behave as lovers and have to deal with both knowing that their special friendship is ending. At times funny, weird and moving. Worth a watch.
